Angie the Angelfish

The Angelfish is a remarkably beautiful fish. The Angel Fish's
body length can get up to 2 feet. They usually live in small
groups and eat algae, worms, shellfish and sponges. In the wild
their lifespan is unknown.  They are found in the tropical seas
all over the world and are usually found around shallow waters.
Some Angelfish have  markings near their fins that look like
eyes to confuse predators.
In Captivity Angelfish can have a lifespan of 10-15 years.
They are cold blooded fish so they can survive in varying
temperatures. The scientific name of Angelfish, Pterophyllum
Scolare, is derived from the Greek words, Pterophyllum meaning
"Winged Leaf" and Scalare, which means "A Flight of Stairs".
The dorsal fins look like a flight of steps or a ladder, and the
Angelfish is leaf shaped. Quite extraordinary!
